MECC Central is an Emergency Coordination Centre and Response System built by Datalink. When an emergency situation arises in your local area, you know you can open the MECC.
MECC Central was first piloted at the Alpine Shire Council in conjunction with the Department of Justice, and with input from the SES, Police, Red Cross and other agencies.
Initially built for Victorian MECCs, it is also effective for local EOCs for other states such as NSW's LEOCs.
Built specifically with Australian conditions and bushfires in mind, but has proven ideal for any type of situation, from flood to cyclone, major event or even during a terrorist attack and the biggest of civic disasters. MECC Central can be used for local incidents that only require a council response, and can scale to include multiple agencies and hierarchical reporting structures.
MECC Central is now being adopted by the majority of Victorian councils, and was recently selected by the Municipal Association of Victoria for a state-wide rollout for 2011.
MECC Central combines incident request tracking with agency logs, workspaces, geographical mapping, strong security and workflow, resource cost tracking and a recovery database to assist in helping affected people and property within the municipality.
The system is primarily focussed on providing a common operating picture, plus a complete record of the incident as well as the EOC's response to that incident. Its key strength is in its ease of use, which is especially important when combining a volunteer workforce with a high-pressure situation.
MECC Central allows for direct agency involvement, and being cloud-based, allows for remote operation and resource sharing between municipalities, along with easy and secure information sharing. And should your facilities come under threat, there is no equipment to protect, as the data is safe and secure away from the incident.
MECC Central is perfect solution for Emergency Response and Recovery officers looking for an effective and easy to use Crisis Information Management Software (CMIS).
