Since the initial roll out in November and December of 2011, many councils have included MECC Central in their MECC simulations.  

We've had the opportunity to participate in some of these simulations and one council that held a simulation on the 2nd of December in 2011 was Maribyrnong, one of the pilot councils and members of the steering committee for the project.  Maribyrnong are one of the first metropolitan councils to put MECC Central through its paces in a simulated event.  Called "Exercise Inevitable", the chosen scenario was an oil spill on the Maribyrnong.  Oil spills are not unfamiliar to Maribyrnong and similar incidents have occured as recently as 2009 requiring the coordination of several emergency agencies.

Held at the MECC facility (former City of Footscray building), taking part were representatives of the council, Victoria Police and the SES.  Additional attendees included a public gallery of visitors from local aged care services and schools, around 80 people in total.

A wide range of devices were used to access MECC Central, including tablets, laptops and netbooks and Datalink admin support staff were on hand to assist.
